UCLA was founded in 1919 as a public, coeducational, research university. Their current enrollment totals nearly 40,000 students. With classrooms and lecture halls in use from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and as many as 600 students using a single classroom on any given day, UCLA was looking for flooring that would pay for itself by reducing maintenance and increasing productivity.
“Tarkett’s rubber flooring is easy to maintain which is a big part of UCLA’s value equation,” said Carol Conrad, Office of AVC General Services at UCLA. “I see Tarkett flooring as an investment in productivity versus carpet, which is a short-term and shortsighted solution. Higher education is a highly competitive business and investing in elements that can make people safer and more comfortable pays dividends.”
